A strange situation with infamous Hobby Lobby hit the headlines today as it was revealed that they are being investigated for importing hundreds of ancient artifacts from Israel, that should belong to Iraq.

NASA’s Kepler Telescope has stumbled upon one of the most fascinating discoveries so far – a colossal artificial megastructure believed to have been constructed by an advanced alien civilization.

Besides Kepler’s ability of finding small, rocky worlds orbiting distant stars, it can also detect different space phenomenon like stellar flares, star spots and dusty planetary rings.

Scientists Convert Black Hole Light into Sound - Listen to the Sound of a Black Hole

 Have you ever thought about what a black hole sounds like? You may not have even considered what a black hole looks like, but if you want to know how it sounds, it sounds quite, well…. “epic”. Scientists compare the sound to static, but it sounds like something you would hear while playing Diablo II, mixed with the sound of a torch or intense flame. The higher pitched it is, the more like static it sounds.

Scientists from the Max Plankck Institute in Germany looked at flickering emissions of light coming from black holes, galactic nuclei, white dwarfs, accretion disks, and all kinds of astronomical phenomena.

Then, they figured out how to convert the light into sound, and re-create an actual audio file that accurately depicts the sound you would hear if you could listen to a black hole.

Ever since the NASA spacecraft Dawn entered the orbit of Ceres, scientists have been fascinated about the feedback received. On January 19, 2015, the first high-res images of the planet were collected and immediately sparked a heated debate over their supposedly alien origins.

What the pictures revealed puzzled the researchers. Two bright spots were visible in a huge crater from the surface.

To deepen this mystery even further, Dawn also provided images of a pyramid-shaped mountain which is located over a relatively flat landscape. The structure measures about 3 miles above the surface and is oddly dark on one side, while the other side glows with bright streaks similar to the other bright spots found inside the crater. What material could reflect light in such a manner ?

2,000 Year Old Greek Analog Computer Baffles Researchers

In an ancient shipwreck off the the shore of the Greek Island of Antikythera, explorers discovered what is now known as the Antikythera Mechanism. 

Discovered in 1901, it was a mystery for over one-hundred years as to what exactly this device was and how it operated due to centuries of ocean water damage. Now, its elusive purpose and puzzling complexity is finally understood and its significance in human history is far greater than ever imagined.

This ancient mechanism is a computational device that was crafted over two-thousand years ago in order to calculate astronomical positioning and alignments for calendrical and astrological purposes, as well as determining the cycles of the Olympic Games. 

This ancient analog computer was constructed using an intricate assembly of nearly 30 bronze gear wheels contained within a carefully designed case with an array of dials on the outside of it.

Researchers are perplexed by this device as it demonstrates technological understanding similar to that of the 18th century, yet it was constructed between 150 and 100 BCE. All known ancient instruments that even begin to compare to the mechanical complexity of this celestial super-computer were all created at least a thousand years later. 

Perhaps the brilliant minds behind the design and construction of the Antikythera Mechanism suffered the same peril alongside their creation, leaving the world to rediscover the computation of astronomical positioning.
