Turmeric has been known for literally thousands of years, particularly in the East, for it’s amazing healing capabilities that are applicable to countless ailments. Many even believe that Turmeric is the single most effective nutritional supplement in existence.
Luckily, in recent years Turmeric has caught the attention of researchers in the West and there are now many scientific studies which validate its benefits.
Some studies, like this one, show how Turmeric Is Just As Effective As Prozac For Treating Depression. Turmeric is also very well known as an anti-inflammatory and works very well for people with arthritis. Other benefits of this plant include: contributing to a healthy heart and proper digestion, and that it helps prevent memory loss and diabetes.
A Delicious Way To Incorporate Turmeric Into Your Diet
Golden milk: have you heard of it? It is a yummy, sweet, and comfortingly warm beverage packed with many nutritional benefits. It’s the perfect evening drink! Best of all it is extremely easy to make.
Step 1: Prepare A Turmeric Paste
Ingredients:
- 1/4 Cup Turmeric Powder *Be sure to purchase organic whenever possible for maximum health benefits.
- 1/2 Tsp. Ground Black Pepper (black pepper assists with the absorption of the active component in turmeric, known as curcumin)
- 1/2 Cup Water
*Note: The addition of black pepper to this paste makes the curcumin in the turmeric more bioavailable, meaning you can use less and get better results. This simple addition increases the body’s absorption of turmeric by up to 2000 percent, so don’t omit this important ingredient!
Measure the ingredients into a small saucepan and heat over medium-high heat until a paste forms. This won’t take too long. Remove from heat and store in a small jar in the refrigerator.
Step 2: Make Turmeric Tea! aka Golden Milk
Ingredients:
- 1 Cup Almond Milk (or other milk or milk substitute of your choice.)
- 1 Tsp. Coconut Oil or Ghee
- 1/4 -1/2 Tsp. Turmeric Paste
- Honey to taste
Combine all ingredients except honey in a saucepan and heat over medium heat until just before it boils. Remove from heat and then add honey to taste. Enjoy!
