“The crisis in today’s health care system is deeply rooted in the interwoven history of modern medicine and corporate capitalism. The major groups and forces that shaped the medical system sowed the seeds of the crisis we now face. The medical profession and other medical interest groups each tried to make medicine serve their own narrow economic and social interests. Foundations and other corporate class institutions insisted that medicine serve the needs of ‘their’ corporate capitalist society. The dialectic of their common efforts and their clashes, and the economic and political forces set in motion by their actions, shaped the system as it grew. Out of this history emerged a medical system that poorly serves society’s health needs.”
A few years ago, the above statement would most likely have been greeted with harsh criticism and even disbelief. Thanks to recent revelations from medical industry insiders, as well as the availability of documentation detailing scientific fraud, more people are starting to become aware of some very disturbing realities that plague the modern day medical industry.
For example, Dr. Richard Horton, current Editor-in-Chief of The Lancet, stated that much of the scientific literature, perhaps half, may simply be untrue, and that “science has taken a turn towards darkness.” (source) Former Editor-in-Chief of The New England Medical Journal (NEMJ) Dr. Marcia Angell states that “it is simply no longer possible to believe much of the clinical research that is published, or to rely on the judgement of trusted physicians or authoritative medical guidelines. I take no pleasure in this conclusion, which I reached slowly and reluctantly over my two decades as an editor of the New England Journal of Medicine.” (source)
“The medical profession is being bought by the pharmaceutical industry, not only in terms of the practice of medicine, but also in terms of teaching and research. The academic institutions of this country are allowing themselves to be the paid agents of the pharmaceutical industry. I think it’s disgraceful.” – (source)(source) Arnold Seymour Relman (1923-2014), Harvard Professor of Medicine and Former Editor-in-Chief of the New England Medical Journal
So if you’re thinking something like this is a conspiracy theory, think again.
Pharmaceutical companies have a multi-trillion dollar incentive to cover up cures, distort scientific literature, and discourage the use of proven natural substances like cannabis. It’s funny how a drug showing promise to treat a specific disease is usually pushed into human clinical trials, yet cannabis, a plant that has been shown to have anti-tumoral effects for decades, is still awaiting them. Think about that for a moment.
While there is still a great deal of research to be done to discover exactly how to use cannabis therapeutically for different illnesses, people have found success with certain strains and dosages depending on their own physical composition. Without proper research, discovering the best ways to use this plant will be difficult. It should also be mentioned that there are a number of other botanicals that have even greater therapeutic potential that are now coming into the forefront.
Below is a video of Mnar Muhawesh, Editor-in-Chief of MintPress News, interviewing Rick Simpson, founder of Phoenixteras.ca and a medical cannabis activist. Rick has been providing instruction on how to make cannabis oil for medicinal use, among other things, for many years. They go into an interesting discussion about modern day medicine, big pharma, and the use of cannabis for medicinal purposes.
Twenty-three states have now approved cannabis for medicinal use, yet there are still some laws that make it almost impossible for patients with certain diseases to access one of the most potent forms of cannabis medicine, which is pure cannabis oil.
This plant is still categorized by the US federal government in the same category as heroin and bath salts, despite the fact that an enormous amount of research has shown its ability to treat various diseases, from epileptic seizures to cancer.
It’s amazing how many human success stories are out there regarding cannabis, and how much science has been published over the past two decades to compliment those stories. For example, we recently covered a story regarding a little girl with epilepsy who was having 4-50 seizures a day. Her father eventually decided to take matters into his own hands and try cannabis oil. You can watch that HERE.
